The East Asian ALMA Science Workshop (July 22–24) and Data Analysis Workshop (July 25–26) for 2024 took place at the Seoul National University. The annual science workshops, held in collaboration with Taiwan and Korea, provide a forum for sharing ALMA’s latest scientific discoveries and fostering research partnerships across East Asia. This year’s event again welcomed approximately 100 researchers and featured a diverse range of presentations, primarily from young researchers, showcasing exciting new findings with ALMA. Additionally, the workshop highlighted the history of East Asian collaboration, commemorating ALMA’s 10th anniversary last year since its inauguration.
The Data Analysis Workshop, following the Science Workshop, was the first joint data-reduction event among Japan, Taiwan, and Korea. Its main goal was to promote collaboration and skill development among young astronomers in East Asia. Participants worked in groups to learn interferometric techniques including advanced topics like self-calibration and data combination. The workshop helped facilitate closer interaction among the young astronomers, and participants gave highly positive feedback, reflecting their satisfaction and the valuable skills they gained.
