In Chile, the 2nd Atacama Conference is being held on April 27 and 28 at the Operations Support Facility (OSF). Attendees of the meeting are the representatives of the projects that are ongoing or planned near the ALMA site, giving the project progress reports and discussing about safety, radio frequency protection, and environmental issues including preservation of nature and ancient relics. Representatives from Japanese projects are also attending the meeting: Hajime Ezawa, Project Manager of Atacama Submillimeter Telescope Experiment (ASTE) of NAOJ, Norikazu Mizuno, Assistant Professor of NANTEN Project of Nagoya University, Mamoru Doi, Associate Professor of Tokyo Atacama Observatory (TAO) Project of University of Tokyo, and Seiichi Sakamoto as ALMA-J Liaison Officer.
