The 3rd Astronomical Lecture in Tosa-town titled “Evening with stars and music” (hosted by Tosa-town’s education board under the joint auspices of NAOJ) was held at Tosa-town Agricultural Environment Improvement Center(*). At the opening, Dr. Seiichi Sakamoto gave the introduction of the project, which was followed by a lecture titled “Stars and Children” by Takeshi Miyaji and then “The Birth of the Stars Observed by ALMA, Gigantic Radio Telescope in the Andes” by Ryosuke Miyawaki (Fukuoka University of Education). After the lectures, we had a concert and stargazing session at the lecture hall, and about 60 people attended. The picture shows the participants enjoying moon observation using a telescope or binoculars. What they have in their hands is a star wheel they made for themselves. When some children found an artificial satellite fortunately during the observation, all the participants shared the excitement. * “Tosa-town Agricultural Environment Improvement Center” is an unofficial translation.
