From January 17 though 19 at Osaka Prefecture University, the 7th receiver workshop titled Workshop on the Development of Low-noise Receiver Technology at Millimeter Waves and Terahertz FrequenciesEand the international workshop titled The 7th Workshop on Submillimeter-Wave Receiver Technologies in Eastern AsiaEare being held jointly. More than 30 oral presentations and about 20 poster presentations are scheduled in the workshop, which will be attended by about 70 participants including 12 from overseas. The topics of the presentations on the first day are: the current status of ALMA Band 4/8/10 developed by Japan; the optics to transmit the radio waves collected by the radio telescope to the receiver (the heart of the telescope); and the laser technology in terahertz frequency band.
