ASJ Autumn Meeting 2006

Astronomical Society of Japan is holding its Autumn Meeting 2006 at Kyushu International University from September 19 through 21. In the first-day session on the ground-based observation instruments, 12 presentations related to ALMA were given, including those on intensity calibrator, local oscillator, band 4/8/10 receivers and detecting devices. The picture shows Shinichiro Asayama, research fellow and the leader of the band 4 team, reporting the evaluation results of a preproduction model of the band 4 cartridge and development status of measurement systems. The results show that the model satisfies almost any of the challenging requirements of ALMA in terms of receiver noise, stability and polarization characteristics.
