The Joint ALMA Observatory (JAO) in Santiago is promoting various ALMA-related education and public outreach (EPO) programs in Chile. These EPO activities include poster exhibition, public lectures, astronomy classes at local schools, and workshops using the ALMA paper crafts. The pictures below show ALMA workshops held at schools in Concepción and Valparaíso, port towns located in central Chile. At a school in Concepción, students are making 66 paper antennas and two paper antenna transporters, which will be exhibited with a diorama of the ALMA Array Operations Site (AOS).
The ALMA paper crafts are used by many Japanese schools and science museums, too. It would be difficult to make them for beginners, but you might want to try one.
