Emergency radio system was installed to ensure the safety of those who are allowed to enter the AOS area of ALMA, such as researchers who conduct astronomical observation using ASTE 10-m submillimeter telescope of National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, NANTEN 4-m submillimeter telescope of Nagoya University, CBI project of California Institute of Technology and APEX 12-m submillimeter telescope of Europe Southern Observatory. The picture shows the radio system installed at the entrance of APEX. This system will be used to contact the safety team at the Operations Support Facility via a repeater on the summit of a nearby mountain.
