Night Sky over the OSF

The photo shows the night sky over the Operations Support Facility (OSF). At the center of the Milky Way is the Southern Cross, and its lower black regions are a dark cloud, so-called “Coalsack.” The Large Magellanic Cloud is in the upper left region near the steel tower on the right, and just below it is the Small Magellanic Cloud. The Magellanic Clouds are easily recognized because they look blurred unlike other celestial objects. Bright circular objects on the ground are Japanese antennas during measurement [texts provided by Masato Ishiguro].
