On August 25, Nobeyama Open Campus 2012 was held at the NAOJ Nobeyama Radio Observatory (NRO) in Nagano prefecture, Japan.
Although it was a scorching hot day, the event attracted as many as 3308 people. NAOJ Chile Observatory introduced ASTE and ALMA, two telescopes located in Chile. So many people came to the ALMA/ASTE booth that they had to wait in line before entering the building.
At the ALMA booth, staff explained the mechanism of the ALMA telescope and the universe explored by ALMA through mini-lectures and movies.
