NTT Group Communication EXPO was held at Tokyo International Forum from December 20 to 22. As part of their exhibition, there were demonstrations of remote-control operation and image transmission between Japan and Chile, using an optical telescope installed in Department of Astronomy of University of Chile as cultural grant aid from Japan. These presentations were given by a group working with NAOJ for high-speed telecommunication between Japan and Chile in relation to ALMA, and ALMA-J Project Office also joined in the presentations to explain the obtained images of the astronomical objects. The picture shows their exhibition booth. We had an impression that their displays were much more sophisticated than ours at NAOJ in Mitaka.
