A Herd of Vicunas

There are animals living vigorously in a rigorous environment in the Atacama Desert at 4400 m above sea level between the Operations Support Facility at 2900 m asl and the Array Operations Site at 5000 m asl.

The picture shows vicunas. They seemed to be cautious, and sometimes glanced at the photographer aiming at them. We occasionally see several vicunas around here, but it is rare to see a herd of 10 or so like this day.
