Open Lecture by the Surface Science Society of Japan, Osaka Branch

On March 4, the Surface Science Society of Japan, Osaka Branch held its 8th open lecture titled “Attractiveness of Handmade Space Science” at the Osaka Prefectural Private Education and Culture Hall. In this event, university professors and engineers at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) gave four lectures on the relation between surface science and space science, and on the latest research achievements. One of the lecturers talked on a very unique research of flying a soft drink can into the space. The picture shows Hideo Ogawa (Professor Extraordinary at Osaka Prefecture University) explaining the mechanism of the interferometer. He also talked on the mechanism of the radio telescope and new scientific knowledge that will be explored by ALMA.
