The Joint ALMA Observatory (JAO) will start to accept observation proposals with ALMA from June 1. For those interested, the East Asia ALMA Regional Center (EA ARC) held ALMA Observing Tool (OT) tutorial/consultative meeting for observing preparation in the NAOJ Mitaka campus on May 6, and about 30 people participated.
OT is a software application used for the preparation and submission of observing proposals. The aim of this tutorial is to increase the submission of proposals from Japanese astronomers and promote researches of scientific value. In the program, participants learnt how to prepare an observation proposal with OT in either the “Quick-Start Course” for beginners of OT operation and interferometric observation or in the “Advanced Course” for those who have experience of preparing an observation proposal with OT. While asking questions, the participants have become familiar with the use of OT.
