A ceremony was held on the eve of the celebration for the 26th anniversary of city administration of San Pedro de Atacama, and the ALMA project was honored for its contribution to the local community. The picture shows Massimo Tarenghi, ALMA Director, receiving the memorial plaque and a certificate of appreciation from Sandra Berna, Mayor of San Pedro de Atacama. The plaque carries an ancient design on its plate made of copper, which is one of the citys specialties.
