During their recent visit to Chile, NINS President Maki Kawai and NAOJ Director General Saku Tsuneta visited the ALMA site on May 31st, together with a Japanese delegation composed of officials from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), and others from NINS and NAOJ. The visit consisted of a tour of the ALMA Array Operations Site (AOS), the ASTE telescope, and the ALMA Operations Support Facility (OSF). The weather was excellent, with no wind, and they could see the antennas in operation.

During the visit, the Japanese delegation had the opportunity to chat with NAOJ staff working on that day at the site, as well as to go inside an antenna undergoing maintenance at the OSF.
