4th Astronomical Lecture in Tosa-cho (Kochi Pref.)

The Tosa-cho board of education and the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan held the fourth astronomical lecture titled Evening with stars and music.EThe lecture program was comprised of three parts as it was last year: lectures on astronomy, a concert, and star observation. Unfortunately, the star observation was canceled due to rainy weather. In the lecture session, Associate Professor Seiichi Sakamoto gave a lecture titled Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune,Eand talked about hot topics about the definition of planets and extrasolar planets, and Professor Masato Ishiguro gave a lecture titled Radio messages from the universe — ALMA, gigantic radio telescope in the AndesEand explained radio astronomy and ALMA. Following the lecture session, a concert was performed by opera singers along with accompaniments of the piano and guitar.
