On May 15, the thirteenth 12-m antenna was transported to AOS. The picture shows the thirteen antennas with Cerro Chajnantor (5640 m asl) and the AOS Technical Building (where the Correlator and monitoring computers are installed) in the background.
By the way, don’t you think this picture is very similar to the computer-generated
artist conception of ALMA ?
This picture makes us feel that the vision conceived by astronomers decades ago is certainly becoming reality through the continuing efforts of all the people engaged in the ALMA project.
