This beautiful sky was photographed at the ALMA Operations Support Facility (OSF). The picture shows the Milky Way extending across the sky with the Large Magellanic Cloud in the upper right. The moonlight made distant mountains visible. Though we are in summer now, it gets cold at night here in the high Atacama desert. As the air is very clear, we can enjoy beautiful starry sky like this even in the moonlight night [photo and texts provided by George Kosugi].
