Venus (known as “the evening star”) is shining brightly in the dusk at the ALMA Operations Support Facility (OSF at 2900 meters altitude) with little illumination.

The picture shows Venus with a Japanese 12-m antenna (right) and a European 12-m antenna (right) during an interferometer test at the OSF. The Milky Way galaxy extends over the two antennas although it cannot be seen clearly. The photographed Japanese 12-m antenna was one of the antennas that had been used for observations at the Array Operations Site (AOS at 5000 meters altitude); it was temporarily returned to the OSF for improvement of its capability.
