Student Honored for Collaborative Research with ALMA Receiver Development Team

Taiyo Ushiyama, a second-year doctoral student in the Department of Computer and Network Engineering at UEC, received the BEST TECHNICAL PAPER AWARD in the STUDENT PAPER CONTEST for his research presentation at the 2026 IEEE MTT-S International Conference on Numerical Electromagnetic and Multiphysics Modeling and Optimization, held in Valencia, Spain, from July 1 to 3, 2026. The work presented in this paper was carried out as part of a collaborative research project between the NAOJ ALMA Project and the University of Electro-Communications.
This international conference serves as a forum where experts and practitioners in electromagnetic (EM) and multiphysics-based modeling, simulation, and optimization for RF, microwave, and terahertz applications gather. This award was presented to three outstanding student presenters, selected from 158 presentations delivered by over 200 participants.
