Taiyo Ushiyama, a first-year doctoral student in the Department of Computer and Network Engineering at UEC, received the Electronics Society Student Award for his research presentation at the plenary session of the IEICE (Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers) Society Conference, held at Okayama University’s Tsushima Campus in September 2025.
The conference, jointly organized by four IEICE Societies (specialized divisions within the association), provides a forum for discussions on a wide range of technologies in electronics, communications, and information. The award is conferred by the IEICE’s research committee to outstanding presentations in three research fields. Ushiyama was selected from more than 110 presentations in the field of 1. Electromagnetic Theory and Microwaves, and received a certificate of commendation.

Tsuyoshi Hazemoto, a first-year master’s student in the same department, won the Grand Prize for his research presentation at the Microwave Student Forum 2025 held at the Yokohama Minato Mirai Manyo Club in November 2025. This event was sponsored by the IEICE Technical Committee on Microwaves Class-2 Study Group Student Encouragement Initiative.
This study group focuses on active devices, circuits, passive circuit elements, systems, basic theory, technology, and image technology. The Grand Prize is awarded to the best research presentation as judged by the forum committee. Hazemoto was selected from among 15 student presentations and received a certificate of commendation.
