7th ALMA-J public lecture titled “Dream for the Space” (hosted by NAOJ under the joint auspices of Kochi Education Center, and Kochi-ken BUNKYO KYOKAI) was held at Kochi Education Center with about 50 participants. At the event, we had several interesting lectures including “Stars and Children” by Takeshi Miyaji (VERA Observatory), “Exploration of the second earth? – ALMA: Gigantic radio telescope in the Andes” by Tetsuo Hasegawa, and “Discovery of the stars and life” by Mr. Tsutomu Seki, a comet hunter. Also, there was a film showing titled “Under the Southern Cross”, which was filmed at the ALMA construction site, narrated by Seiichi Sakamoto. The picture shows Hasegawa explaining the important role played by ALMA in the research of the formation of the planets. In addition, Mr. Seki announced in his lecture that he had filed an application for naming one of the asteroids discovered by the Geisei Observatory as “Andes” (“ALMA” has already been used as a name of the star).
