An event titled Harvest Moon: Lets have a Moonlight Party in Miraikan! 2006Ehas been held from October 4 through 9 at Miraikan, or the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation. For the event, the Radio Astronomy Division of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ) provided the images of the moon in the radio spectrum and a parabola antenna as well as a documentary film about the construction of ALMA. In the event area on the first floor, the visitors were watching the film with interest and the children enjoyed an experiment on how the radio waves are received by dropping a small rubber ball on the parabola antenna. The picture shows the mother and her child dropping a rubber ball to see how it bounces towards the focus. This experiment is popular among both children and adults.
