NAOJ-ALMA All Hands Meeting

On October 16, NAOJ-ALMA All hands Meeting was held with the participation of all staff engaged in NAOJ ALMA Project. The attendees include the staff of the NAOJ Chile Observatory which assumed the responsibility to operate ALMA in cooperation with international partners, as well as the staff members of the receiver team at the NAOJ Advanced Technology Center (ATC) which assumed the responsibility to develop, fabricate, and maintain the receivers. Also, the meeting was attended by the top management of the Joint ALMA Observatory (JAO) in Chile: Director Pierre Cox, Deputy Director Stuartt Corder, and Observatory Scientist John Carpenter.

At the meeting, Director Pierre Cox gave speech about the current status, latest achievements, and future plans of ALMA. Following the speech, the JAO top management had an active exchange of views with the NAOJ staff members. While there are some staff members who are visiting ALMA site in Chile very often, most of the staff are engaged in the offsite activities in Japan. In this situation, it was a valuable opportunity both for the key members of JAO and for the NAOJ staff members to have such direct exchange of views on actual operations process and data analysis of ALMA, and future development programs of the receiver.
