On April 21, Mitaka Network University held a popular event called “Astronomy Pub” in the aim of promoting communication between citizens and researchers. In the event, the host Professor Masato Ishiguro (ALMA-J Project Director) talked with a special guest Tamio Miyake (Executive Announcer at the NHK) for about an hour under the theme of “Learn from ‘Radiowave’- the Universe, Broadcast and Life-”. Participants paid close attention to the lively discussion on radiowave-related topics, ranging from electric appliances like TVs and radios to the latest astronomical radio observational instrument like ALMA, which is under construction in the Andes. The picture shows Professor Ishiguro talking about how he became a radio astronomer and Miyake listening to him attentively.
