From August 11 through 13, as part of OMOSHIRO Science Fair (“OMOSIRO” means “exciting” in Japanese) which is being held at the Tsukuba Expo Center in Ibaraki Prefecture, the ALMA project gave a presentation of ALMA with poster exhibition and demonstration of the antenna function using small rubber balls. In a program called “Science Cafe” held in the morning and afternoon of August 11, Rieko Momose (graduate student of the University of Tokyo) gave a lecture titled “Astronomy Astronomer” and talked about her interest in astronomy as well as the universe explored by radio astronomy. The picture shows Momose giving an explanation of the galaxies.
